Life Festival is slowly approaching us and with the sunny weather starting to kick in we can already taste the warm cans in the campsite. Life is coming into its 12th year now after starting in 2006 but the line-up is still getting better every year. Here we’ll take a look at ten reasons why you need to take a trip to Life this year.

The Full line-up

From Dixon to Solardo to DJ EZ to Alan Fitzpatrick to Eats Everything there is something for everyone at Life Festival this year. They’ve came together to pull in some huge names from both the underground and commercial scene. This year we’ll see the likes of Rudimental and Duke Dumont making a trip over. We’re excited to see how they’ll plan out the set times.

The Setting

Life is held at Belvedere House and gardens in Westmeath. The beautiful landscape surrounding the field’s makes it all the better when you’re watching your favourite DJ bring the sun down. At the other side of the festival is the lake, perfect for chilling out in the sun.

The Belvedere Berghain

This year Life have put together an homage to Berghain with their techno bookings. Regis, Sunil Sharpe, Nina Kraviz, Paula Temple, Jay Clarke, Cleric, Bjarki, Defekt and Anetha. We’re happy to see the return of Regis who hasn’t played here since 2015 in The Twisted Pepper alongside Sunil Sharpe. There is definitely no lack of techno at Life this year.

Legends making a return

It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen Goldie or Ricardo Villalobos play in Ireland, 2013 and 2011 to be exact. Villalobos has played Life before back in 2010 alongside people like Chris Liebing, Ben Sims and Surgeon, as for Goldie he played the year before in 2009 with the likes of Oscar Mulero and Altern8

Camping

Camping can only go one of two ways when you mention it to your mates, they either love it or hate it, but can youreally beat going to a campsite rave at 6 in the morning and rolling over into the next day. Make sure to bring a foldable chair though, it’s needed.

Local Talent

There is no lack of local headliners at Life this year, if you’re into techno you can see the likes Jamie Behan, Jon Hussey, Luke Xander, Tommy Holohan, Sam Greenwood, Jake Nolan, Doug Cooney, Maebh O’Connor and many more. If disco is your cup of tea you can check out Bobby Analog, Boots & Kats, Toast DJs, Kark Guest, Dead Wax, Jimmy Rouge and many more. If you like the house / garage side of things you have BoboFunk, Ed Fay, DJ Deece, Sage, Kaily, Long Island Sound, Mark Gill and many more.

It’s the biggest dance music festival in Ireland

Whether you’re only new to the dance music scene in Ireland or have been around for years, you’re bound to know about Life Festival. Coming into its 12th year it has grown a lot from where it first started. Still today hosting some of the biggest names in dance music. We’re looking forward to how it will play out on its 20th year anniversary.
