Long awaited stream links for Soma’s 25 year anniversary takeover have finally been made available. Founded by Stuart McMillan, Orde Meikle (Slam), Dave Clarke, Glenn Gibbons and Jim Muotone back in 1991, Soma have become one of the most influential record labels in dance music. They have released some huge records such as Daft Punk’s debut record ‘The New Wave’ and also originally released their original vinyl version of ‘Da Funk’.
On the night Soma called upon, Clouds, Shdw & Obscure Shape, Slam and Rebekah to play.
Clouds delivered a distorted, destructive set for those who truly know their techno. The two lads are known for their ability to implement other genres from breaks to hardcore gabber vocals, whilst keeping their unique footprint on their tracks. Check out their set below.
Next on the night featured Shdw & Obscure Shape, a relatively new duo who started their own imprint ‘From Another Mind’ back in 2014. They delivered an hour of thumping records, perfectly for Slam to step up next.
Slam picked up for the next hour with their rolling techno tracks. The two guys proved how with the proper mindset and taste of music, a strongly backed record label will never be outdated. Stream their DJ set below on Sound Cloud.
Lastly to close out the night was UK producer Rebekah with her renowned destructive hybrid techno sets. In her set up she DJs with Traktor but also uses a Roland TR-8 and a Korg Volca beats on top of the tracks to add an extra kick. Stream her set below.
