This afternoon a Dublin venue put out a big statement via Facebook.

Hangar on Andrews Lane was said to be closing down soon to make way for a city centre hotel. Fears that it would close in early 2017 have now been stamped out for now. The club today released a statement claiming they will be open until April 2018 at the earliest.

Full statement from the club:

Today is a gigantic day for us at Hangar HQ, after constant whispers from news sources about the immediate future of the venue we’re delighted to be able to share with you that Hangar will remain on Andrew’s Lane until April 2018 at the absolute earliest.

Yes, the site where Hangar is will ultimately be turned into a Hotel but take solace in the fact that for the next 16 months we at Hangar will continue to showcase the finest local and international electronic music talent. With a final date in sight we’re going to make it our duty to turn the space into the premier electronic music venue in the country and we’re delighted to reveal that the wheels are already in motion for some very exciting changes in the venue – all will be unveiled early in 2017.

We’d like to thank each and every one of you for coming through our doors and dancing with us the last 26 months, without you Hangar would be absolutely nothing, so to fully show our appreciation we’re throwing a FREE PARTY for all our regulars and future regulars this Friday (It is the season of giving, after all).

With the clock ticking, we’re going to celebrate each party as if its our last in 9-17 Andrew’s Lane and we encourage you to do the same.

Long live Hangar!
