We’ve decided to go back down memory lane and reminisce on all the tracks that laid the foundations for what we all love today. Every week we’ll dig up four classics that will bring you right back to the early days of raving.

This week Kaily takes us through four of his favourite classics. With a broad knowledge of music and being an influential figure in House music in Dublin, his four picks will be hard to beat!

4. Mighty Dub Katz – Just Another Groove

Right between being a member of The Housemartin’s and becoming Fatboy Slim, Norman Cook was making some unbelievable house music under a number of alias like Pizzaman and Mighty Dub Katz.

It’s just another groove as Mighty Dub Katz is easily one of the most under rated tracks of all time. Released in 1995 on his own Southern Fried records. This never fails to go off any time I play it which is quite often. Guaranteed to get any dance floor moving and one of Norman Cook’s finest moments

3. The Sabres of Paradise – Smokebelch II (David Holmes remix)

Again another epic classic this time from one of the greatest minds to ever emerge from electronic music in Ireland, David Holmes.

Sabres of Paradise was Andrew Weatherall and two other producers who also ran a label under the same name. Releasing some amazing music in the early – mid 90s. This is David Holmes finest moment in my opinion and he’s gone on since then to score countless hollywood movies. Just an epic record.

2. The Visions of Shiva – Perfect Day

Although he went on to have massive success in Trance under his Paul Van Dyk alias, some of my favourite productions from Paul are as his The Visions of Shiva name. It was when he teamed up with Cosmic Baby, another early trance pioneer. Perfect day is just the perfect anthem and I still drop it into sets from time to time. That piano break at 3.35 seconds in is one of the most powerful piano breaks I’ve ever heard. Still gets shivers when I hear it.

1. Union Jack – 2 Full Moons & A Trout (Casper Pound remix)

I can’t make a list of classics without mentioning this absolute masterpiece from Casper Pound released in 1994 on his own Rising High imprint.

To me this is like the Bohemian Rhapsody of dance classics. It clocks in at over 12 minutes but its almost like three or four tracks in one. It’s the definition of a masterpiece
