1. Ben Sims

Ben Sims has been a staple in the Techno community for over 20 years now and has released music on iconic labels such as Primate Recordings, Tresor and his own Hardgroove imprint. That’s why it may come as a surprise to some of us to learn that he’s also been producing some impressive disco infused house tracks. Check out this release from his Ron Bacardi moniker on Razor-N-Tape.

 

 

2. Rod

Rod has been a prominent figure in Techno over the last five or six years, regularly featuring at clubs like Berghain and releasing music with labels like Klockworks and Soma. The Dutch producer has also been releasing tunes under the name Benny Rodrigues for a number of years, putting out quality Chicago inspired house tracks on Unknown To The Unknown and Boysnoize Records.

 

 

 3. Truss

Truss is another name that Techno fans will be familiar with, having released some amazing tracks such as Beacon on Our Circula Sound and Brockweir on the acclaimed Perc Trax label. He has also had a string of successful releases on imprints such as R&S and Avian under his MPIA3 alias.

 

 

4. Gerd Janson

The Running Back head honcho has been one of the leading forces in dance music for a numbers years now with an impressive back catalogue of releases to his name, including tracks on the likes of Regraded, Ninja Tune and Rush Hour Music. Some of you may also know of his other project, Tuff City Kids, a duo made up of Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer.

 

 

5. Jeff Mills

As one of the key figures within the techno community from the very beginning, Jeff Mills has been involved in a number of groundbreaking projects over the years, including his involvement in Underground Resistance and being the man behind notorious labels such as Axis and Purpose Maker. Mills has worked under multitude of guises over the years including X-101 and the above-mentioned Underground Resistance alongside Mike Banks and Robert Hood but as a solo artist, he released the seminal 90’s club track ’Take Me Away’ under his True Faith alias.

 

 

6. Motor City Drum Ensemble

As one of the most talented selectors on the DJ circuit today, Motor City Drum Ensemble has amassed a huge following around the world. Best known for his energetic DJ sets and as a producer for his Raw Cuts series, released on his own MCDE imprint. The German artist, real name Danilo Plessow, has also worked under a handful of different names, most notably that of ‘Jayson Brothers’. Under this moniker he has released on MCDE as well as an impressive two track EP on Drumpoet Community back in 2010.

 

 

7. Mall Grab

Mall Grab has been a constant on the international club and festival circuit ever since the release of his infamous track ‘Can’t’ a few years back. He has gone on to put out a number of sell-out records with labels such as Shall Not Fade and collaborating with the likes of Loods as well as setting up his own Steel City Dance Discs label. The in demand DJ was also one of the people behind one of 2018’s biggest releases, the ‘Mystik Menn’ EP that came out on Pelvis Recordings. The Aussie producer joined forces with Unknown To The Unknown boss man DJ Haus for this release.

 

 

8. Skee Mask

Skee Mask is a well respected and loved name amongst techno fans, with his tracks usually leaning towards a more breakbeat/ambient style. His name has continued to pick up a head of steam over the last year, seeing him release an album on the acclaimed IlianTape label. Skee Mask is an alias of the talented German prouder Bryan Müller who also had a string of mammoth releases on labels like BoysNoize under his previous ’SCNTST’ alias.

 

 

9. Late Nite Tuff Guy

Late Nite Tuff Guy is best known for his innate ability to churn out disco edits and breathe new life into old records. The Australian music mogul is also the brains behind other projects such as the legendary DJ HMC, a hard hitting techno alias with some iconic releases such as 6am and LSD.

 

 

10. Daphni

Dan Snaith, better know as Daphni to dance music fans, is an extremely talented DJ/Producer from Canada. He has worked with artists such as Four Tet and has put out music on imprints like Jiaolong as well as putting together the FabricLive93 mix, using only his own unreleased music. He may also be known to a wider audience as one half of the electronic live act Caribou, the duo behind iconic tracks such as ‘Odessa’ and ‘Can’t Do Without You’.
