Staff WriterWith reports of the weather hitting a whopper 29 degrees next weekend, we’re getting more excited than ever for Higher Vision Festival. Taking place on Saturday June 30, the festival will see Navan Racecourse be transformed into a dance music haven, with some of the biggest industry names featuring on the diverse as ever electronic line up.
With the rare as ever but beloved Irish sun in mind, we picked our favourite 10 acts on the line up that we think are definitely not ones to miss – from driving techno acts all the way to universally likeable house acts.
Charlotte de Witte
Despite being considered almost a newcomer on the techno scene, the Belgian DJ has proven herself and her skill behind the decks, now featured on almost every major techno line up worldwide with the fast paced directions she takes on her unrelenting and self-willed techno.
Mumdance B2B Sunil Sharpe
Mumdance inhabits a unique place in dance music, often drawing from grime, hardcore and more for his own distinct version of techno. He’s built an innovative image for himself, drawing influences from interesting projects and international spaces and artists alike – and he’s doing a B2B with our very own Sunil Sharpe for some industrial techno cuts.
Vitalic
French electronic artist Vitalic blends electro with elements of european disco and house, said to be a major influence of Daft Punk and the French house music revolution. This unique set from one of French house’s pioneers definitely isn’t one to miss.
Mella Dee
Mella Dee has a developed a distinct sound for himself, with driving techno beats and some essence of house, jungle and more, making for a very universally liked mix of house and techno. Aiming to create his own take on warehouse music, as influenced by his Yorkshire surroundings, Mella Dee started his new label project ‘Warehouse Music’ to nurture the driving house and techno that he produces.
Adamant
Adamants productions make for the ultimate feel good music, and with the weather set to hit record highs this weekend, Adamant’s set isn’t one to miss. His blissfull house and disco cuts and edits always make for an energetic show.
NANCY
NANCY has established herself as one of Ireland’s most promising talents in the last few years. Now living in the UK, Nancy has graced shows as big as The Warehouse Project in Manchester, Space Ibiza and more alongside major names such as Carl Cox and Adam Beyer. Her live sets bring a mix of moody techno and acid house beats.
KETTAMA
KETTAMA’s impressive rise to prominence kicked off with a weekly residency with the VSN collective in his hometown of Galway and has since skyrocketed to names as big as Mall Grab playing his tunes all over the world. His house bangers are impossible to shake off and his set is definitely one to make sure to go to.
Tommy Holohan
Tommy Holohan is one of the most promising and distinct producers emerging from Ireland after setting up his own label Rave Selekts, which played host to the cult-favoured track, Subaru Impreza, and getting support from industry heavyweights Dax J, Randomer, Mall Grab, Mixmag and many more.
EVE
The all female Dublin DJ collective is made up of Jess Tillion, Lauren Kenny and Ivana Miculinic (Mitzi), all trying to make a difference for females in a male dominated industry. Their eclectic selection choices never disappoint, similarly to their energy on stage.
Quinton Campbell
Despite being active for a while, Quinton really proved himself behind the decks recently at AVA Festival with an incredibly enjoyable and diverse as an emerging house producer. The set included everything from disco to house and nostalgia ridden classics.
