Walking out of a nightclub in 2013 usually involved somebody trying to sell you a wristband for a rave on the outskirts of Dublin. It would cost €10 for the wristband and €5 for the bus if you didn’t decide to waste an hour and €50 driving around in a taxi looking for the warehouse where the rave was being held.

The Bluebell industrial estate was always a hotspot for the gatherings, and if you did decide to get a taxi there’s a good chance the driver would know exactly where you were going. There was always a sort of hush hush with the taxi drivers. They never seemed to be the ones to call the Gardai and get the raves shut down. It was business for them and a nice fare from the city centre.

While the quality of the music wasn’t something to shout about , it didn’t really matter. It was somewhere to go following Ireland’s ridiculous early curfew. Nobody wants to go home at 3am. This was the alternative.

We’ve picked 10 tracks that we think you’d be guaranteed to hear at a Bluebell rave in 2013.

Enjoy the Memories.
