Headphones can be really expensive for the startup DJ and often people end up buying an expensive pair that mightn’t be suited for club use.  For this list, we’ll stay to closed ear headphones as when you’re DJ’ing in a club you need to be able to zone in for some critical listening.

Sony MDR V55

Sony are known for their audio capabilities so it’s a brand you can trust for audio quality. These headphones are roughly €60 so they won’t break the bank. They have a frequency range of 5 Hz to 20,000 Hz and fold easily to keep in your bag.

Sony MDR-7506

These ones area a little bit more pricey coming in at about €99 from Thomann. Also coming from Sony these are high quality large diaphragm headphones. They have a frequency range of 10 Hz to 20,000 Hz, they would be ideal for the home DJ making the transition into becoming a club DJ.


These headphones come in fairly cheap at €30. TASCAM are a highly respected audio company from California that invented the first cassette based multi track home studio recorder, the Portastudio. These have a frequency range of 15 Hz to 20,000 Hz.

Audio Technica ATH-M20x

Audio Technica are a Japanese based manufacturing company that are known for their high end headphones, they have quite a price range from cheap to expensive. These ones come in at around €55 and have a frequency range of 15 Hz to 20,000 Hz.

Roland RH-5

Another Japanese based manufacturing company renowned for it’s TR-909 and 808. These headphones are extremely cheap for the starter DJ coming in at €28 and have a frequency response of 10 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
