BBC have just announced possibly Ireland’s next biggest festival which will be an alternative to the mammoth festival, Glastonbury. Since Glastonbury is taking a break in 2018 BBC are taking the time off to host the replacement named ‘The Biggest Weekend’.

In next year’s May bank holiday weekend (25-28), The Biggest Weekend is set to take place in four sites in four nations, Belfast, Nothern Ireland being one of them. As of yet there is not much revealed and no hints of a line up either but director of BBC Radio and Music had this to say:

“BBC Music has a strong history of bringing the nation together for some special moments, and this is the biggest single music event ever attempted by the BBC.

“We will be celebrating the diversity of music from four different corners of the country, bringing the best UK music to the world and the best global music to the UK.”

Looking at Glastonbury’s recent editions to the festival, this alternative has a lot to live up to.

Let’s just pray there’s a lot of dance music.
