When it comes to techno we’re well aware that at the moment no one hits the nail on the head quite like UK native Dax J. He and his iconic label Monnom Black have been setting the tone when it comes to relentless, hi hat and kick drum driven techno for quite some time now, despite their never-failing ability to stay fresh in an easily-staled genre.
Having brought us EPs from Stranger, Remco Beekwilder and I Hate Models all at key moments of their career, the latest upcoming release from Monnom Black is ready to open us up to a new generation of jaw dropping techno producers, including the highly tipped Inhalt Der Nacht, Zanias, Cressida, Airod and of course Ireland’s own Tommy Holohan, to name but a few.
The 14 track(!) compilation will also include tracks from Dax himself, along with the above-mentioned Stranger and I Hate Models, not to mention techno stalwart UVB too as well as a re-release of a 1993 Thomas P. Heckmann track under his Drax alias. The compilation will be released in full on the 7th of December and will mark the 17th release on the label, the first various artist compilation.
The announcement of the compilation perfectly preludes the upcoming Monnom Black showcase at Reaktor events this coming New Year’s Eve, with the bill for said event somewhat resembling the tracklisting for the comp too; with the welcome additions of Regis and CJ Bolland there too for good measure.
Warehouse Elemenstraat in Amsterdam will play host to what will be a seminal party for the label, which will contrast techno legends with new blood and solidify Monnom Black alongside other legendary techno labels, such as Klockworks who released a similar compilation last year and followed it up with a host of Photon parties around the world, which too included Dax himself.
