We’re halfway through January and your body clock is still probably more disorientated than you were in the early hours of a spritely 2018. It’s very tricky to get back in the swing of things and the last thing you’re willing to turn to is an electronic artist known for releasing some of the best tracks and mixes over the past couple of years. Your brain needs a break from kickdrums and high hats and everything in between…
That’s exactly why Graded label boss Midland has decided to cook up something very unique that’ll come in handy for all ravers finding it difficult to get back to sleep after the festive period.
Via his Facebook he’s announced a brand new mixtape entitled ‘As the city sleeps’ which is a very unique collection of ambient work with loads of intricate and poignant piano work. He notes that his inspiration came from supplying an hour of music to the inaugural ‘Monolithic Installation’ in Bristol over the summer and that the hours of 4 & 5am happen to be his favourite of the day, something a lot of DJs can definitely resonate with. Check out the video he posted with it below:
This comes in the wake of his announcement that he will be taking up a residency in London club Phonox, where he’ll be taking over the decks every Friday for all four weeks in February. The residency was last held by fellow UK native and rising star HAAi and went down incredibly well with punters and critics alike. This comes right in the wake of Motor City Drum Ensemble’s 6 week residency in XOYO which came to an end midway through December.
A man not shy to mixes, with his fabric 94 mix winning compilation of the year in Mixmag’s opinion, you can be sure this will be the cream of the ambient crop. The hour long mix is available via his Soundcloud page and you can stream it directly here.
