Another Friday, another Mix Of The Week, this time from Brazilian-born, Dublin-based Noisy Chilli, who delivers a juggernaut electro mix from her Electro Chronicles series, taking the first hour, followed by Samira.
Noisy Chilli, the moniker of Faby Santos, is a Brazilian-born DJ now carving out a name for herself in Dublin’s club circuit. Her style is distinctive: if you were to really boil it down, it’s tough techno and electro with a punk attitude. It doesn’t pretend to be anything less than brutal, upfront, and unapologetic, and that shines through in both her mixing and track selections.
This is the fifth instalment of her Electro Chronicles series, a new homebase for her electro and electro-adjacent mixes, featuring herself and guests who share similar ideas of the genre. Though electro, despite its huge weight and history, often lags behind techno, house, and even garage to some extent, its enduring quality remains, and that’s what the series feels like a testament to: an online meet-up point for the electro faithful.
Noisy Chilli’s mix is gnarly from the word go. EBM-drenched leads pierce through the mix, running over slamming 808s, swung electro zaps, arpeggiated strings, and the usual electro tropes that never grow old. Although it starts brash and bold, the energy builds nicely, reaching a climax toward the end that feels near Sunil Sharpe-level of mental—a great complement, of course, to the funky, fists-up, 808 warfare style: the good, good stuff.
