Hailing from Donabate, the quaint seaside town on the Northside of Dublin. Chósta (which beautifully translates to coast in Irish), has been plugging away defining his sound and productions for the last number of years.
Having released Its You On My Mind‘, ‘Rush Hour and The Coldest Stare so far in 2021, Chósta today releases The Chósta EP, which is a collection of tracks inspired by Donabate and its surroundings.
The Chósta EP features four tracks heavily inspired by my coastal surroundings, incorporating field recordings made on Donabate beach in my Dublin hometown. Production wise, the aim was to display a bit of diversity as part of a more cohesive body of work. This is hopefully illustrated on Avalanche.
Avalanche (below) is the second taster from the EP following on from The Coldest Stare.
As well as being busy making music, Chósta is a regular on Dublin Digital Radio, hosting a monthly radio show titled ‘Midnight Tapes’, which he co-runs with Ciaran Mulryan. The show is fairly broad, bringing together the pairs eclectic tastes, combining everything from Brazilian disco to ethereal ambient tunes.
