Daniel Avery is back on everyone’s radar after a slightly quiet beginning to the year, with a brand new EP and album releasing on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy label.

The UK producer made the announcement this morning as he dropped a brand new EP featuring tracks that won’t be on the album. ‘Slow Fade’ is available everywhere from today, and you can listen to the title track here below.

The full 14 track album will be available from the 6th of April and comes just a day after prolific techno producer Dax J announced an album of his own to be released on the same day.

This will be Avery’s second extended work on Alkan’s Phantasy imprint, with his first, ‘Drone Logic’ dropping via the label in 2013.

Despite not playing week in week out, Avery has cultivated an impressively unique set of gigs for the upcoming few months; midway through March will see him play an all night set in London’s York hall, with the decks placed smack bang in the centre, for what will be a mammoth 7 hour show. After that, he’s curating his own day at Nuit Sonores festival and has programmed the talented likes of Call Super, DJ Nobu, Helena Hauff, HAAi and Call Super and more to join him for the May festival in Lyon in France.

As well as that he has managed to nail down a monthly residency with London radio show NTS, which adds another string to his entirely unique bow, in a sea of DJs playing week in, week out, releasing EP after EP.

With the widespread success of Bicep’s album last year, as well as notable extended collections from FJAAK, Dusky and Dave Clarke, it seems as though albums are coming back to the fore within electronic music, with two of its most influential names in the current landscape both dropping ones on the same day in April.
