You may need to sit down to read this, but EDM DJ Hardwell was last night crowned Best International DJ at the 20th anniversary of the Ibiza DJ Awards.
In winning his award, Hardwell brushed aside legendary DJ’s, Sven Väth, Solomun, Kerri Chandler, Masters At Work, Maceo Plex and most unforgivably Mr Ibiza, Carl Cox himself.
We’re not sure who did the voting, or how their voting system works, but the crowd in the audience certainly didn’t approve and proceeded to boo the winning Dutchman off the stage with his award in hard.
It wasn’t all bad news for Carl Cox as he scooped up the Best Techno DJ to the delight of the already slightly bemused crowd. Hannah Wants won the award for best Bass DJ, while Black Coffee picked up Best Deep House Dj award. Luciano picked was presented with the Tech House award, Claptone won the House category and finally Solardo fully deservedly won Best Breakthrough act.

The DutchBest International DJ, beating Coxy, Sven Väth and Solomun to the accolade, and found out it didn’t go down too well as he was booed when he collected it.
Coxy might have lost out on that one, but he did scoop Best Techno DJ to make up for it. Other former Mixmag cover stars, Hannah Wants and Black Coffee, won the Best Bass DJ and Best Deep House DJ awards respectively.
Luciano picked up the Tech House gong, Claptone won the House category and Solardo won Best Breakthrough.
