Sam GreenwoodWest Midlands police in the UK have just issued a proposal that drug testing centres should be available in areas with nighttime economies.
The police and crime commissioner David Jamieson in the area pointed out that the West Midlands area lost £1.4 billion last year in drug related crime and that they hope the proposal will serve to both improve police education surrounding drugs and help put a stop to drug related crime and deaths in the area.
Other proposals included a Drug Early Warning Programme and Drug Consumption Rooms. The aim of both would be to keep those in the health sector aware of new drugs doing the rounds, as well as treating those suffering from addiction as patients rather than criminals.
