Late last month, Underworld surprised us all with ‘Bells & Circles’, a what seemed to be casual collaboration between the pioneering dance duo and the iconic rock personality Iggy Pop.

The track completely synonymous of the classic brand of Underworld’s beats, gradual synths and narrative lyrical statements  – in fact you could barely tell the difference between Karl Hyde’s and Iggy’s vocals apart from the accent, similarly to their presence on stage.

Now, they’ve announced a collaborative project – an EP entitled ‘Teatime Dub Encounters’ – released on July 27 via Caroline International.

The four track EP apparently was born out of several meetings about the soundtrack for T2 in which Underworlds Rick Smith was umpiring, directed by the acclaimed director Danny Boyle, known for his careful attention to the semiotically relevant soundtracks in the films he directs.

We’ve already been given the track ‘Bells & Circles’, but now they’ve shared another track with us from the upcoming EP, ‘I’ll See Big’, where Iggy appropriately upkeeps the poetic and completely unique and Karl Hyde-branded narrative lyrical style.

‘Teatime Dub Encounters’ is due to land on July 27, just days before Underworld appear on the line up for All Together Now at Curraghmore House, Waterford. You can find out more here.
