Another unusual story coming from the Welsh police this week as they kept rave punters happy with lollipops.

Last weekend over 100 ravers took to an illegal party through the night in Grwyne Fawr in the Welsh countryside. The local police in Circkhowll got wind of the rave at 8:30 am on Sunday morning, arriving on site to shut down the rave. The police then made a deal with the party goers to shut down the rave by 2 pm, which is quite a reasonable time.

When 2 pm struck, Dyfed-Powys Police returned to the location but instead of showing up with batons and riot shields they brought lollipops, a nice gesture to keep the ravers happy. Of course, the party ended easily and quietly with the ravers even cleaning up the rubbish whilst leaving.

“Illegal raves can cause considerable anxiety to the local community and can be extremely dangerous. On this occasion, the group was very compliant and we managed to have what felt like positive engagement with them around taking drugs and particularly the dangers if they need medical assistance in such a remote area,”  said PC Cheryl Rudge.

“We want people to come to Dyfed-Powys to enjoy themselves this summer, but I would urge people to think twice before coming here to behave irresponsibly. I can assure local communities that police will take appropriate action to deter illegal gatherings,” added PCSO Billy Dunne.

Now maybe all raves will end nice and sweetly with a few lollipops.
