The dance music community often come together in light of global issues, from fund-ravers to DJ streams, there has been endless creativity shown to support important causes. This latest project from Ireland’s Hybrasil has raised the bar with a record breaking attempt at the longest music production livestream in aid of charity ‘Choose Love’.

Hybrasil24 is a test of endurance, creativity and improvisation. Over the course of 24 hours, Hybrasil will write, record and produce music live from his HBL studio space in Berlin, testing the limits of creativity in a confined space for an extended period of time. The best compositions from the live broadcast will be released on the Hybrasil label as a concept release.

Over the course of the 24 hours he will be taking donations for worthy refugee cause ‘Choose Love‘ who are supporting humanitarian efforts in Ukraine:

“Choose Love does whatever it takes to provide refugees and displaced people with everything from lifesaving search and rescue boats to food and legal advice. We elevate the voices and visibility of refugees and galvanise public support for agile community organisations providing vital support to refugees along migration routes globally.”

Hybrasil, Irish born now Berlin based, came up with the concept as a means to test his skills in a 360 capacity. This process draws from every facet of his recording career, from his time as a sound engineer working with vintage recording consoles to his solo studio works with vintage drum machines, synths and samplers.

His time in radio for 12 years, along with his experience as a house sound engineer working with a variety of artists from different backgrounds led him to develop the Hybrasil live and studio project. Debuted in 2016, what followed was a series of digital/vinyl releases on his own eponymous label and a number of key performances at festivals and clubs across the continent. His most ambitious project to date took five years to develop. For this, he wrote a live show entitled ‘Spaces’, performed before Jeff Mills & the National Concert Orchestra at Dublin’s Bord Gais Theatre.

This performances is certainly one of the most ambitious live projects we have come across. Make sure to tune in Friday April 22nd, from 9am Berlin time via Beatport’s Twitch and YouTube and support the cause. You can donate to Choose Love here.
