Five years on, Free The Night continues to push for real change in Northern Ireland’s nightlife landscape.
With a major legal challenge ahead, the campaign marks the milestone with a special Belfast event, bringing together a strong lineup of local talent for the occasion. All funds raised on the night will support ongoing work and upcoming legal efforts.
Belfast nightlife campaign Free The Night marks five years at the forefront of pushing for licensing reform in Northern Ireland. What began in 2021 as a response to minimal changes in outdated laws quickly grew into a defining voice for the region’s nightlife community.
Since then, the campaign has played a key role in shaping progress, but major hurdles remain. Following the rejection of crucial licensing recommendations, Free The Night is now preparing to take legal action against the government in what marks its most significant move to date.
As the campaign approaches a pivotal period, its fifth anniversary will also be celebrated with a special event in Belfast, featuring a lineup of some of the most respected DJs across the North, a moment to reflect, and to push forward.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the day-to-day running of the campaign, as well as supporting upcoming legal costs. On the night, expect sets from Hawkes B2B Noel Watson, Jordan Nocturne B2B Timmy Stewart, and Hannah B2B Sophie.
