Staff WriterBerlin has become what is basically the world capital of underground clubbing down through the years. Iconic trademarks such as Berghain and Tresor, but since 2011 over 170 clubs have been forced to close their doors due to noise complaints.
Berlin’s city government have now stepped in, but not in the way you would think. It has been announced that €1 million will be invested into sound proofing in clubs across the city.
Only last year Berlin recognised their clubbing scene as ‘High Culture’, alongside other services such as museums and arts, which meant a lower tax rate being paid by venues.
It’s not yet clear how the money will actually be distributed, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction for Berlin.
