Sunil Sharpe and other notable figureheads from Ireland’s club scene will be taking part in a discussion about ways to improve the current clubbing landscape within the scene at the moment. The discussion will focus on how the rise of bigger venues has been prevalent, it has put a severe strain on small and middle sized clubs given the increased cost of running club nights over the recent period.

They would also like to address how the nightclub owners association is no longer in existence and how that is particularly pertinent given that two of the capital’s largest venues are due to be demolished over the next two months. They have urged each venue’s operators or managers to attend and if they aren’t able to send someone as a representative.

Talks like these are very important, especially for us interested in electronic music. Even though our music is enduring probably one of its most prominent spells in recent memory, however with that have come a number of tricky issues as regards clubbing, the obvious one being the abolition of both Hangar and District 8.

  • No venue has been announced for the discussion as of yet but you can keep up to date with any further developments via their Facebook page.
