The new Drogheda Code, led by Love Drogheda BID, puts community at the heart of the town’s night-time economy, encouraging people to look out for one another, respect those who work in it, and help create safer, more welcoming nights out.
Drogheda has launched the Drogheda Code, a new initiative aimed at promoting a safer and more welcoming night-time economy in the town. Developed through feedback from local residents, workers and venues, the campaign centres around a straightforward message: “Be Sound.”
The Code encourages people to look out for friends and fellow night-goers, respect venue staff and emergency services, and remain mindful of the residential areas surrounding the town centre.
Rather than framing safety purely around policing behaviour, the initiative puts shared responsibility at the centre of its message, asking those enjoying the town at night to play their part in creating a better environment for everyone.
There’s something positive in seeing an area take ownership of its own night-time culture, particularly at a time when conversations around safety and the future of town centres can often become reactive.
