If you can’t tell, we’re having gig withdrawals, and serious ones too – we’ve just ordered a strobe light. While it will no doubt be a while til we’re back on a dance floor together, it needn’t be too long til you turn up the volume on an absolute stomper of a record.
Holland based label Emerald, have been known to release the best in relentless, uncompromising techno and their latest Various Artists double vinyl is no half measure. VA Essential Memories EP Part II is back by demand, presenting label affiliates and new artists on the label with another 10 track compilation, all bringing their iconic sound. Not for the faint hearted, this is stacked with acts who have moulded their techno sound making it a release of back to back weapons.
Each act brings a fresh approach to the gritty, almost apocalyptic sounds of industrial techno. With elements of distorted vocal featured heavily throughout, expect to hear rave, punk and distorted synth-y atmospheres all moulded into driving techno bangers.
This may make you miss our time under the strobe light, but it will certainly motivate you while we wait to get back and give you a bit of much needed escapism. For DJs, if you only buy one record then this is a must have.
