If you’re not familiar with SMU aka Sean Murphy, SMU is an emerging talent breaking into the scene from Kilkenny. The 24 year old has been working on his craft for the last seven years, focusing his energy into the faster end of the techno spectrum.
With a collection of excellent releases on Subwoofer Records, Industrial Techno United & Coup to name a few, plus a heap of self released tracks via his own channels, SMU has had a rapid start to his career as a producer, as his brand of 145+ BPM high energy techno releases continue to flow.
A heavy influence of listening to trance, hard house and hardstlye throughout his teenage years, is seen within his productions and sets, with thumping kicks, harsh acid lines and big leads being the forefront of his sound.
With recent inspiration coming from producers who incorporate the trancey techno sound along with some acid in their music. To name a few: LAVEN, Hephaistos, YA, JKS, LULU, Trym, Viper Diva.
