We’ve featured LUCAS a number of times over the last few months, as the Fuinneamh Festival founder has been hard at work, both in the studio recording mixes and releases, plus creating his latest piece of work, the brand new Ogma record label.

We spoke to Luke, aka LUCAS about his latest project, one that has been in the pipeline for a very long time, but given this extra period of transition and time, Luke has been granted the space from the hustle and bustle of a summer of events and festivals, to fully focus on getting this new and exciting label off the ground and tracks released.

The idea behind Ogma has been a long time in the making. Ever since the keep her lit forest parties nearly a decade ago, I’ve wanted to put a label together that’s focus is on really considered releases. Being torn between a love for producing music and a love for actually throwing the parties, meant myself and the lads have been a bit caught up with Fuinneamh these past few years, so it had been difficult to focus on my music outlet fully until now. I’ve been so inspired lately to get back into the studio and make this label happen, it had realistically been 2014 the last time I was working on music regularly, meaning there’s a mountain of unreleased material here.

Ogma Records is an electronic music label whose ethos is to showcase high fidelity sound design and sonic exploration, under a wide variety of thought provoking themes. With attention to detail in creating atmospheric spaces, I know electronic music can embody all the complexities of nature, ranging in feel from textures as delicate as flowers or as fluid as water, to frequencies as hard and heavy as stone. Electronic music has the ability to transport its listener to different energetic spaces and create real emotional stimulation that lasts. Ogma Records is passionate about creating music as an artform that holds meaning. There are so many unbelievably talented producers in Ireland and things are only getting started with this debut release.

This first release is a really special one to me, mainly because I’m so proud to work with Nathan on it under his new alias ”Snakebite 616”, it’s an honour to release his music on Ogma. Nathan has always inspired me with his music, the tracks he has put together for this are some of my favourite he has ever created. I think there’s a lot of emotion in this first release, and a lot of diversity, there’s deep, hypnotic, trance like melodies in some and then there’s textured fast paced tooly loops in others. A lot of attention to detail has gone into this record from us both. For me, Unify is really the stand out on Ogma 01, Nathan has done some crazy wizardry on this masterpiece and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it. It’s a really big track, it’s incredible.

Another wizard who deserves a huge mention and is a massive part of this release and who is a part the label as a whole is Berlin based Irishman and audio genius Emmet Smith aka Em X. He’s our in house engineer/post production expert and has done some phenomenal work on this release. We’re looking forward to his 4 track remix debut, which will be coming out shortly after Ogma 01 as a special digital release.

The release will be available digitally from the Bandcamp Friday, August 28th and pre-orders are available for the limited vinyl pressing if you contact Ogmarecords@gmail.com. All vinyl sales will come with free digital WAV file downloads. Copies of the vinyl will also be available at any popular Dublin vinyl outlets and a select few stores in Berlin.
