Spearheaded by a group of passionate volunteers, including Give Us The Night founder and DJ Sunil Sharpe and renowned DJ Holly Lester, Free The Night is a non-profit organisation that commits to creating a safe, progressive and culturally rich environment for nightlife in Northern Ireland.

This month Free The Night are hosting a series of online open talks, aimed at opening up the conversation around Northern Ireland’s creative Night Time economy. Taking place on the last three Monday’s this August, the events will cover issues affecting promoters, event organisers, venue owners, creative artists and other industries and individuals within the night time economy.

This is an excellent opportunity for the community to find out more about the Free The Night campaign and to be involved in shaping discussions with policymakers in Northern Ireland. The events will be hosted by Free The Night campaigners and industry specialists; including Give Us The Night’s Sunil Sharpe, DJ Holly Lester, local promoters Plain Sailing, publican Ciaran Bittles and more. Free The Night works closely with Queen’s University researcher Ciara Power, who will also be present for each event. The information collected from these online discussions will inform future stages of research and allow the steering committee to begin thinking about the future of the creative night-time economy in Northern Ireland.

Points from the discussions will be used to create a detailed report for the NI Assembly later on this year. This is an open call for keen participants to raise issues around the Northern Ireland Night Time economy and the team encourage all to join us in discussion or to simply listen at the following events.

These events will take place online and are free to attend. You can sign up for the online tickets via Eventbrite here.
