Big news from Life Festival today as they announce a host of local artists added to the already bursting 2022 lineup, further promoting Irish artists and homegrown talent.
Life Festival has platformed Irish artists since the outset, with many of the countries established acts earning their stripes there in the early days. For 2022, they continue to raise the bar seeing Irish artists make up just under 50% of the festival headliners announced so far. This not only shows their dedication to the Irish scene, but is a commendation to the strength of the artists themselves.
Having already announced FJAAK, Camelphat, Sonny Fodera, Nina Kraviz, The Blessed Madonna, and Reinier Zonneveld (live) plus the cream of the Irish crop KETTAMA, Rebūke, Boots & Kats, Cailín and Tommy Holohan we now see the festival further backing Irish with the next wave of Irish talent featuring the likes of Shannen Blessing, Aeron XTC, Riot Code, Lukey, Efa O’Neill, Mav 666 to name a few.
We caught up with some of the countries rising DJs and producers announced today, ahead of their performances at this years’ Life Festival.
Here’s what the artists have to say:
“Life Festival is a special place a lot of in the Irish dance scene grew up with. Over the years we would have experienced some of our most memorable memories there and when I see crowds on that buzz for the first and second time it makes me smile. Absolute madness from the moment those gates open and it’s a beautiful thing.”
“Life is more than just a festival. It’s one of those special places that makes my heart feel all fuzzy and warm. Arenas of people all here with the same love, sharing the same electric energy. Life is a celebration of Ireland’s love for electronic music and I am so happy to be a part of the Life family.”
“When you think of dance music in Ireland and what key events come to mind Life has always been the first one for me so to be asked to play and to be part of the insane lineup they have for this years edition really is a big achievement for my musical career and an even bigger personal goal for me.”
“Life festival is the goal for most DJs in Ireland. Playing at it solidifies what you have done in the previous months and also brings future opportunities.” Taint
“It’s great having a dedicated techno stage like Index to showcase so many homegrown DJ’s and artists. From Friday through to Sunday the energy and enthusiasm of the crowds has been immense in the past, I can only imagine what it will be like this year after a 2 years hiatus.“
“As long time festival goers we have probably been to Life Festival around 7 or 8 times over the years between us, and to now be given the opportunity to play here really is a dream come true. A few years ago when we started Reboot we had a big list of things we wanted to achieve and Life was one of our main goals. We couldn’t be prouder of how far we’ve come up to this point.”
“Life festival is an amazing festival for me, it has that big festival atmosphere while being strictly dedicated to electronic music. Everyone is there to dance. I have been going to festivals since I was 16, a lot being multi-genre festivals. The first time I went to Life I really felt like I belonged there. I had always loved electronic music but when I went to Life and experienced a full festival dedicated to the sound, I was hooked. It inspired my love of music to transform into DJing. Since then it has been a huge dream of mine to play at Life. 3 years later I get to live out that dream.”
“Life 2019 was my first and only time at Life Fest and it was such a good buzz, great vibes all round. I’m so grateful being able to play at Life 22 and I think this year is going to be extra special as we have waited so long for festival season. Definitely one ticket off the bucket list for me.“
