Sam GreenwoodLike everyone else, we’re listening to a lot of music during this lockdown period, so when the news broke that Jamie xx was to return to the famous Essential Mix airwaves, this was something that got us all incredibly excited.
Despite having been very quiet for the last few years, Jamie xx remains one of the highest regarded acts and DJ’s on the circuit today. This year was the year, most fans expected to see him make his long awaited return to stages and festivals, unfortunately that wasn’t the case due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
Jamie xx‘s Essential Mix comes 9 years after his last solo Essential Mix but closely follows his first single in five years, ‘Idontknow’ which was released on April 15th. We hope that both the release of the single, and this fantastic Essential Mix is a sign that there is more music on the way, soon.

“The Essential Mix has always been an important one for me, been listening to it since before I was allowed to go to clubs. I spent the last two weeks trying to finish music so that it could be in here. Had a lot of fun! I hope you enjoy and can dance around your houses to it, and with friends online.”
For now, as Pete Tong himself would say, sit back, relax and listen to the uplifting and ever changing sounds of Jamie’s two hour mix. You definitely won’t regret it.
