Ok, we’ll have to admit, we stumbled upon Nixer last week, but already love their debut single ‘Your Days Are Over’. We’ve featured Gearóid Peggs previously on Four Four and have loved his production, but this new and exciting collaboration with Seán Keenan was new to us and came with a completely different musical direction than we expected.

Nixer are Seán Keenan and Gearóid Peggs, an Irish duo recording and producing from their homes in London and Dublin respectively.

This project is a product of Coronavirus Lockdown. A conversation between the pair sparked up online at the beginning of April about the productions they were both working on at the time. When Peggs mentioned his plan to start up a new wave inspired project, but didn’t know what direction to go lyrically and vocally, it felt like the perfect opportunity for Keenan to step in, who feels most comfortable when writing lyrics and on vocals.

Since that conversation, the pair have been banging track after track, and are working on developing their own sound, with their debut track ‘Your Days Are Over’ just released to the world on the 25th June, a little over 2 months after they first dabbled with the idea.

The Nixer sound is a fusion of synths, guitar and vocals and all productions are their own. Seán (lyrics, vocals and guitar) and Gearóid (synths, drums and production) are aiming for a fresh sound that evokes a deep feeling of emotion and makes you want to sing along, and doesn’t feel out of place on the dancefloor.

As a result of Nixer being formed when it was, right now it is a recording project. However the duo are putting a lot of importance on a live setup, and all productions to date have had a huge emphasis on this, in anticipation for when venues and clubs reopen.

‘Your Days Are Over’ is the debut track for the duo, and is out now across all streaming platforms, the title of the track coming from a direct quote of a running joke from the night the pair first ever met in 2018. Nixer are hoping to follow up their first release in quick succession with a second single over the coming months.

Like what you hear? Of course you do, it’s excellent. Pick up the lads debut single via their Bandcamp here.
