Liam McGrathNext up on the Local Selection Mix Series we welcome Josh Kavanagh, one of the founding members and faces behind the beloved Irish collective Bubblegum.
Joshua kavanagh is a Dublin based DJ & one half of the Bubblegum crew which run regular parties in Dublin, from it’s beginning in The Bernard Shaw, to growing and packing out venues around the city as well as inviting over acts such as Orpheu The Wizard, Esa Williams and Bufiman.
They base their sound at these parties around what they love, any strand of world music but not limited to, South African, Nigerian, French and everything else in between.
This two hour, vinyl only mix is a selection of “recent digs all from lockdown and a nice handful from when I recently got to get back into town to flick through the stacks in Spindizzy and All City, something which I have been longing to do for months now”.
The mix opens up with some soul, lovers rock and reggae from Canada and Nigeria, moves into some boogie and then shifts into a more uptempo clubby sound throughout the latter half of the mix.
