This week’s Local Selection is one of the most impressive contributions yet, as Samuel Powell steps ups with an hour mix fully consisting of his own original music. The Kildare native weaves through 60 minutes of euphoric & melancholic sounds, showcasing why he’s become a cult figure in modern Irish electronic music.

Samuel Powell is a Kildare-born electronic musician who currently resides in Lisbon. He has created his own organic, rich, and ever-evolving brand of ambient and melodic style of techno, house and everything in between.. ethereal dance music to put it simply. His music is meant to be equally dramatic in a festival tent as it is on your headphones since it frequently fuses natural field recordings with stinging synthetic tones.

Both a live performer and DJ, his sets focus on energy, euphoria, and intensity. This mix features some of his releases with Shall Not Fade and Part Four, plus some unreleased pieces.

The mix is a beautiful example of electronic music’s ability to rub shoulders with more organic sounds as Samuel’s music lies adjacent to atmosphere’s from cavernous forests and whistling trees. The mix is a beautiful blend of kaleidoscopic dance music that hones in on emotion in a particularly poignant manner. Beautiful stuff from a truly special Irish artists.
