Karl GuestJordon Alexander, better known by his Mall Grab alias shot to the top of house world in what felt like an almost overnight fashion off the back of his now legendary ‘Can’t’ release during the ‘LoFi House’ era that dominated YouTube back in 2015/16, an era which saw the introduction of some incredible artists such as Baltra, DJ Seinfeld and DJ Boring to name but a few.
Since then he has gone on to command slots at some of the world’s biggest and best festivals/clubs as well as finding the time to continue exploring the many realms of dance music and even setting up his own Steel City Dance Discs imprint which has acted as a platform to help launch the careers of some of the most exciting up-and-coming producers in the game at the moment, such as Loods, Salary Boy, Nite Fleit & Skin On Skin as well some already established names such as X-Coast & Deejay Astral.
Over the last year or so, we’ve seen an evident change in what the Aussie producer has been playing out in his sets, covering everything from classic house to electro, breaks and techno and just a few months ago he put out an EP under his own name on his Looking For Trouble label which he says was inspired by “the most turbulent, formative and important” year of his life, and that they’re are all “about self-discovery, who I am and who I want to be.”
We were quite excited to see that he’d been invited on as a guest for the rather iconic/influential Dekmantel Podcast series and were even more thrilled to hear that he took the opportunity to flex his vast musical knowledge and his capabilities as DJ on the platform, delivering a sublime 2 hour mix of bumping electro and old-school rave sounds that Dekmantel have described as ”a high octane selection of brilliantly physical sounds” that have been slammed together ”with a fist pumping efficiency that means two hours race by in a flash.”
