This weeks mix of the week welcomes Derv. A Crane Club and Hidden Love resident and promoter, who has provided us with a mix of all things funky and ghetto-like courtesy of the Reboot Selecta Series for its 55th edition. What a buzz.
Derv has only recently begun DJing over lockdown, providing an array of tasteful mixes that vary in genre, continuously breaking boundaries within the underground dance music realm where techno meets electro, ghetto-tech, ghetto-house and beyond in what is an amalgamation of all things groovy.
Derv’s outside the box approach to mixing has earned her reputable support slots for DJ Slugo and X-Club of late. This alone is a virtue of her versatile mixing style which has continuously turned heads and looks to continue doing so in the future with her stellar selections.
Having played multiple headline shows in Dublin as well as an array of Slither gigs, Hidden Love shows and more Derv takes each gig in her stride as an attempt to fill the gap in Dublin’s dance space where there is a lack of all things Ghetto. Providing a much needed voice for women to express themselves in a sphere where they are not necessarily heard, Derv breaks through the silence with ease as she unapologetically remains herself, always.
This mix showcases all things Derv. Expect groove, funk, and bouncy material that is layered with bass-heavy undertones to keep the listener engaged. Coupled with a slew of noticeable classics to maintain the momentum and pace of the recording. This is bound to brighten up your day. Give it a listen.
We feel that this is only the start for Derv and we cannot wait to see where this DJ journey takes her. How exciting!
