This week’s Mix of the Week welcomes the first iteration of 2024, with Surka’s Seisiún an mBan mix for Raidió na Life taking the top spot. It features an hour of indulgent progressive house and old-school party anthems right from the off which makes for terrific listening courtesy of the Reclaim The Mainframe resident.

Having burst onto the club and festival circuit over the last few months, Surka was initially a bedroom DJ for many years before she effortlessly transitioned from spinning at home to crowded club shows and festival stages in a relatively short period. Surka has showcased her keen admiration for quality dance music at Otherside Festival, Indiependence and Electric Picnic alongside Boots & Kats and George Feely. More recent appearances include Otherside’s ‘The Ritual’ event showcase at Slane Castle on New Year’s Eve along with an early announcement for the 2024 edition of Fuinneamh Festival already sealed ahead of the festival’s anticipated return this September.

These trailblazing sets lead Surka to pick up a series of lucrative club shows in the capital for esteemed parties Slither in Index’s new venue and Reclaim The Mainframe (where she has recently earned a residency) as well as appearances in Izakaya’s funk bunker where she has carried out 2 all night long sets over the last few months. Showing no signs of slowing down, 2024 is already shaping up to be a massive year for this talented selector.

Surka’s Mix of the Week for Seisiún na mBan on Raidió na Life is filled with a range of house, progressive house and old-school classic club cuts throughout. Cutting her teeth with some euphoric tracks steeped in nostalgia makes for perfect weekend listening. Not to mention clean and clever techniques utilised throughout which makes for a facile display throughout. Iontach ar fad! Éist go maith leat.
