The Irish Museum of Modern Art has been hosting a ton of great events all summer as part of the IMMA Outdoors series, each one platforming some of the best artists, whether established or up-and-coming, that our island has to offer. Catering for all types of multi-disciplinary art endeavours, this latest offering is one we think our readers will be keen to sink their teeth into – For What You Dream Of.

For What You Dream Of is a meeting of minds, curated by ddr resident, musical explorer and archivist, Kate Butler, alongside Ashley Chadamoyo Makombe from the GalPal Collective, an arts/media collective dedicated to the creation/support of works by young queer folk, POC and women. Both women are incredibly passionate and instrumental in empowering women, offering both a platform and an education in all that is female arts.

The event celebrates the role of Black women and non-binary people within the evolution of dance music, offering a heady mix of talks, film, dance rhythms and the contemporary surge of Afro-diaspora female and non-binary producers and DJs, along with delving into the grassroots dance community in Ireland. Expect Afro-future sonic imaginaries by some of dance music’s most dazzling artists and filmmakers!

Featured artists include Director of documentary ‘Black To Techno’ Jenn Nkiru, multi-disciplinary artist, producer and performer Nkisi, alongside DJs Fehdah, Mona Lxsa and Renn, to name a few.

This is a free event taking place Thursday 1st September at 5.30pm. Book your tickets here to hold your place. Check out the trailer for ‘Black To Techno’ below in the meantime.
