Hen’s Teeth welcome the seminal German record label, Analog Africa, this Record Store Day, Saturday the 23rd of April at their Blackpitts space.

Analog Africa is a label based in Frankfurt, Germany, owned by Samy Ben Redjeb, releasing compilations with African and South American music mainly from the 70s and 80s. Playing in the Hen’s Teeth hub in Dublin for Record Store Day this Saturday, label manager, DJ and Digger Kaya aka Afreekaya / Mr. Kaya will be representing the label on the decks, where he will also be curating a selection of pop-up of records for sale on the day. Joining him is a bunch of local selectors and labels, bringing a choice of their own collections and back catalogs for sale.

For over a decade now, Samy Ben Redjeb’s seminal Analog Africa label has been unearthing the best in both explosive foot-shufflers and hypnotic sauntering treasures from Africa. It’s achieved more than most in celebrating the rich and diverse heritage of a much misunderstood and overlooked continent.

It’s fair to say that there are many overlooked pioneers and phenomenal session players from Africa. These legends are given a just and appreciative platform by Analog Africa, by dusting off rare finds, locating those responsible, and in many cases interviewing the principal team or artist behind these iconic recordings.
