Hailing from Waterford, Bill Mango has cut his teeth in Berlin and as a verified party starter, quickly became a regular feature on line ups for the city’s most esteemed parties. Holding down residencies in renowned clubs such as Chalet & Griessmuehle, the latter home to his beloved bi-monthly party Mango. Over the last year the youngster had played relentlessly prior to lockdown, weekend after weekend, alongside some of dance music’s most well regarded artists including Shanti Celeste, Ben UFO, Kornél Kovács, Project Pablo, Or:la to name but a few.
The global pandemic and forced downtime upon the world has given Bill an opportunity to launch his club night’s label, and in July saw the release of his 5 track sun kissed debut EP ‘Sun, Sea & XTC’, which received early support from Peach, Addison Groove and even… Faithless.
With brand new Mango music on the horizon, featuring music from some of dance music’s more familiar faces, plus plans for a debut vinyl release firmly underway in 2021, Bill has very much kept himself busy in the music production and label front. As for his own music, Bill has moved into a new studio and is currently finishing off his next EP, plus like ourselves, has gotten fond of listening to and making more ambient music and sounds during lockdown, with new music under the name of ‘Billow’ soon to follow.
What’s next for yourself and your Mango parties?
“In terms of parties, although Griessmuehle’s original location is closed, Mango will return to throw regular parties in Berlin once the pandemic is over. With the occasional Mango party in Dublin and my hometown of Waterford. I have had plenty of time sitting on my arse to think of ways to make the party in Berlin bigger and bolder”.
“I recorded the mix back at the end of August. This mix definitely had the dancefloor in mind and best represents what I play out. House, Acid, Breaks, a dribble of UKG and a few wafters for good measure. I hope it shakes your arse as much as it shaked mine“.
