Today’s entry to the Local Selection Mix Series welcomes Cork-based duo Diversion. The pairing has been setting the Cork scene alight over the past year with their hugely energetic sets and wicked mixing ability and we are delighted to welcome them as the 197th edition to the series.
DIVERSION is a Cork-based duo, who have solidified themselves in their local techno scene within the last year. In a short span of time, they have amassed a string of solid self-releases that have been highly supported by artists at home and abroad and most recently by Penglord performing live on Hör Berlin. The duo has played numerous shows across The Rebel County and has earned themselves residency with Cicada Selects, which is a primarily Cork-based party run by Jamie Lynch, who is one of Cork’s leading promoters at the moment.
DIVERSION has recorded a range of mixes for platforms such as Project Radio, Reboot, and Treecast while performing across Cork in notable venues like Crack Jenny’s, Cyprus Avenue, and Kino. Their sound can be best described as a mixture of groove-infused techno with a touch of old-school hardcore for good measure. Deriving clear influence from some of Ireland’s finest electronic music artists Tommy Holohan and Kettama, the duo are constantly refining their sound through means of their track selection and productions that you can hear in the latest edition of Local Selection.
This recording showcases an array of fast-paced techno tracks that are best described as colourful, playful, and funky selections, fused with a high degree of mixing technique that makes for a tremendously fun listen. Expect choppy vocals, swinging grooves, and punchy kickdrums throughout.
