This weeks entry to the Local Selection Mix comes from one Dublin-based digger, LOU. The eclectic selector supplies a rolling excursion through prog-soaked cuts ranging from the 90’s to the present-day.
LOU is a Dublin based DJ & Producer, originally hailing from Portarlington, Laois. Like most, LOU began his DJ’ing career as a teenager, playing in local bars & parties in his hometown, where he garnered a love for long sets that allow the freedom to blend through various genres of dance music. This has helped him to develop a unique style that is classic, yet contemporary, with his sets ranging from anthemic 90’s House & Progressive, to the sped up 4-to-the-floor rhythms of Speed Garage & Trance. Over the years, this has seen him play DJ sets in clubs across the country, while also making appearances at Irish festivals such as Electric Picnic & Fuinneamh.
Much like his DJ sets, LOU’s productions take considerable influence from the 90’s, with his releases harbouring positive & euphoric feelings of hope & optimism. His most recent track ‘Channeling Enchantment’ is a prog-tinged, hazy chugger that combines otherworldly synth motifs with spaced out rhythms. It features on the SUNROOM001 compilation of the new Irish label ‘Reasons to Dance’.
LOU carves out a transcendent journey in his entry to the Local Selection Mix. The Laois-native reaches for sizzling vintage acid cuts alongside churning rave scorchers. The varied selector manages to intertwine a host of ballad club style tracks without losing rhythm of groove, which can sometimes come secondary when selecting those big numbers. LOU weaves in and out of moods and atmospheres with ease, utter composure from a relatively new name within the scene.
