We love to see new producers come through, and it’s incredibly refreshing to hear some new Drum & Bass in the mix. It’s a debut release for Belfast singer and producer HY:LY, as her Drum & Bass track ‘Secrets’ was just released last Friday, June 18th.

From ambient, space exploration to driving dance floor tracks, HY:LY builds tracks that are rich in layers to get your body moving and invoke inner feelings. The duality of her energy officially unfolds with her debut single ‘Secrets’, which was released on Friday [June 18th] but she’s been honing her skills over the last number of years, with her first performance happening over lockdown.

She is a raver at heart, with a love for creating mood and intensity through her music and live performances. HY:LY blends the dance floor percussion of techno and Drum & Bass with elements of psychedelic rock, via her own vocal delivery and field recordings to create an abstract melting pot of energy.

Her music caught the attention of Belfast legend Timmy Stewart earlier in the year, who invite her to launch and perform the electronic side of All Points North, a collaborative performance in the Titanic Pump House:

It was the first time I had played live. Other than producing at home. Filling the Titanic Pump House with heavy kicks and bass was magic“.

With the sun setting over Belfast Harbour, the brooding Drum & Bass inflected electro-punk of HY:LY brought the curtain down on filming for the inaugural run of the All Points project. Her intensity and presence as a performer seemed to fill the room, setting the scene for what is sure to be a very bright future. You can watch HY:LY’s incredible Titanic Pump House performance here.

With her ambient track ‘Stasis’ coming out on Belfast’s Extended Play label this summer, and a number of local collaborations lined up, this marks the start of a trajectory of an exciting new artist from Ireland.
