It’s been a steady rise for the young Waterford producer, from playing his hometown clubs and parties pre Covid, to having his music supported by some of the biggest DJs on the planet.

We premiere his track ‘Forbidden Fruit’ from his brand new 2 track EP from his new ALT 004 release, plus had a brief chat with the young Waterford producer.

Since lockdown struck last March, Evan aka Alt8 has been using every available second to increase his library and develop the increasingly recognisable Alt8 brand. Turning his passion into an obsession, “I actually think I’m addicted” Evan explains laughingly. Using money as well as time has been an important factor he mentions, up-skilling himself through courses & workshops.

COVID may have been the worst thing ever to happen to the music industry but for me I don’t think I would be where I am at right now if it didn’t happen. (Well not as fast)”.

Evan points out how the positive use of time away from the clubs and being in lockdown has made him focus his skills into fast tracking his name within the scene along with pin-pointing his sweet spot production style. “Alt8 004 is the first time I’ve released something where I’ve really felt, ‘yeah this is me’”.

Evan went through his thoughts for the EP with us and said,

I feel Alt8 004 is the start of something new and exciting and I’m delighted to share this with Four Four. For this EP I wanted to keep it short & sweet with just 2 tracks, an A side & B.”

“The A side titled ‘Forbidden Fruit’ is a straight up peak time banger. The start of the track has a vocal looping over the drums until a big euphoric breakdown takes the mood into ecstasy with some trancy synths, One for a big moment. The B side ‘Purgatory’  has a fitting name with eerie Pads & synths surfacing above a powerful drum groove. A mid set floater.

The tracks are released today [19th February] on all platforms.
