Ethereal Skies have recently announced their new venture from a club night that now covers the areas of a mix series and label too. Their inaugural label release is titled ‘Aerga’ which translates to ‘the air or the ether’ as Gaeilge, comprising of 21 track contributions from a vast range of Irish and international artists from Dublin and afar in an attempt to platform compelling avant-garde electronic music.

Aerga Volume 1 is a project planned and developed to traverse the soundscape of alternative club sounds through local Irish artists and friends, the vision of what the Ethereal Skies platform seeks to present to the world musically comes to life. Aerga is a sonic journey that defies genre boundaries, contrasts new school with the old school, and presents the dysfunctional possibilities of electronic music. Aerga is a spectrum of sounds ranging from ambient dreamscapes, avant-trance, breakcore, experimental pop, donk, gabber, neo-grime, to prog, hard groove and more.

Today’s premiere hones in on Gaffa’s fantastic release gabber contribution to the compilaiton. The Dublin-based promoter, producer and DJ has cemented himself firmly within the Irish electronic music scene in recent years. Supporting artists like Sara Landry, OTTA and Mayeul as well as a closing slot in Cellar as part of Hybrid Events takeover earlier in the year. He now finds himself part of esteemed club night Lost which has been synonymous with throwing some of the craziest parties Dublin has seen in recent times.

Gaffa has taken this time to develop his sound both as a DJ and producer and now finds himself most comfortable within the realms of gabber, hardcore, hard techno and schranz. These styles can be heard in his addition to Aerga Vol.1, ‘Phantom’, which is a more experimental departure from his usual tracks. ‘Phantom’ unites tough, driving drums with bright, airy synths to make a peak time club cut.

Aerga Volume 1 releases in full this Friday. You can pre-order it on Bandcamp here.
