Ahead of Choki Biki’s ‘Breaks for Days Vol.1’ release, we premiere the track ‘Skinny Mysterio’ by Irish DJ and producer, Sharpson

Choki Biki Records is a new Dublin Based Label run by Dónal Sharpson aka Sharpon. After being inspired by the quality of demos he had received over a number of years, Dónal decided to set up a label with the same name of his favourite default snack. That same mentality applies to their first VA release, that the record can be a DJs default when spinning, just as breaks are the go to for many DJs when playing other genres such as techno and house, etc.

Choki Biki Records previously kicked things off for themselves in early 2020 with their monthly DDR Show. Their show initially started out as a show to showcase up and coming producers and DJs, giving them a chance to have their tracks and mixes heard on the radio platform.

Today we premier Sharpson’s track ‘Skinny Mysterio’ from the upcoming 6 track EP. This track captures the essence of ‘Breaks For Days Vol.1’ with a wonky sounding synth and a jungle-esque breakdown with the use of Dublin vocal samples gathered from hip-hop group Wax White. The tracks name ‘Skinny Mysterio’ comes from the fact that it was intended to be a remix of his track’ Fat Spider-Man, which was Sharpson’s first release under his own name, but it eventually strayed too far from a remix into a whole new original production.

Sharpson is no stranger to the Irish Electronic Scene, with over 13 years experience when it comes to DJing and producing. His music has been released on the likes of Claude VonStroke’s Label Dirtybird, Riva Starr’s Snatch! Records, Daniel Kazou’s HotOven, Reboot Records, and many more. His infamous sets at the ‘Granny’s Gaff’ stage at Electric Picnic have become a ‘must’ on every festival goers list. Sharpson’s on-stage presence has been compared to as ‘Mad Lad’ persona. Expect him to be mixing with the decks upside-down, blindfolded or stage-diving and MCing with a microphone, a Sharpson set is guaranteed to get people on their feet.

‘Breaks For Days Vol.1’ will be released February 5th and will also feature tracks from Decorum, High Fidelity, Cedarwood State Trax, Presswork, and Lee McConville. You can pre-order the 12” vinyl here, or pre-order digitally here.
