His latest track titled ‘Take Me Back To The 90s’ is a whopping techno track filled to the brim with pace and energy right throughout as the Express co-founder showcases his appreciation for hard and fast dance music.
Today’s premiere focuses on Galway-based DJ, producer and promoter SMBG. Encompassing a sound which derives from the harsher side of 90’s dance music which can be vastly seen across his productions. Fusing contemporary dance music with old-school rave influences resulting in him creating crazy up-tempo tracks for some time now. His productions caught the attention of numerous artists in 2022 which lead to many of his tracks getting airtime across clubs and festivals spanning right across Europe and America, most notably at ADE in Amsterdam.
SMBG may be most known in Ireland for his promoting endeavours which include co-running the widely known Express label and events collective situated on Ireland’s West Coast. Having had a massive year which had organised numerous sold-out parties showcasing a wide range of talent from across the country and abroad. Express had provided Galway City with some much-needed hard techno parties that dancers in the West were wanting for so long. Their success is a clear indicator of the dance music resurgence that has proved so important for Galway in recent times.
SMBG sets typically consist of quite a powerful and up-tempo selection of techno tracks throughout, keeping dancers moving from start to finish. His library is made up of a deep dive of old-school tune selections that also ranges between hard trance, techno and hardstyle. Having supported artists such as Basswell, Faster Horses in recent times with an upcoming support slot for Jacidorex fast approaching this May alongside a slew of fantastic Irish talent in Decadance, Meltx and Rowdiboi.
