Friday calls for some fresh tunes to soundtrack your weekend, as Cathal Dunne AKA GUV releases a lockdown inspired three track EP, simply titled ’83’.

Produced in reaction to lockdown, and having more time in the studio, the EP spans from melodic techno to tech house. Inspired by some of GUVs favourite pre-lockdown parties, people and memories, taking influence from artists such as Caribou, Grant Nelson, Bellaire and Brame & Hamo.

The Dublin based producer grew up with a guitar in his hand, playing in bands until the age of 19, across a variety of different genres before his love affair with electronic music began. Encouraged by his chance encounter with Egyptian Lover where he got the opportunity to rap over his tracks, this set the wheels in motion to begin producing.

His obsession now lies in the sounds of melodic techno, funky house, disco and of course, a bit of old-school hip hop.

‘The title track “83 Crumlin Road” is meant as a tribute to all of the mates and the memories made throwing parties along the way. The nostalgic pads and rolling bass guide you through a landscape of spacey synths leading you through to deeper drops’.

He plans to continue to work hard through lockdown hoping to make some big releases into the future.I have a couple more projects in the works so hopefully I’ll be making another release before summer.
