Belfast DJ and producer Jordan Nocturne shares his euphoric single ‘Gemini Boy’ – a hedonistic club cut that conjures up hazy dance floor memories.
The follow up to psychedelic disco dub ‘22BB’ supported by BBC Radio 1, BBC6 Music, and more, this is the second single from his highly anticipated forthcoming EP of the same name. Due for release 2nd July, these highly anticipate tracks are original dance floor cuts, plus a jungle leaning remix from Studio Barnhus’ Kornel Kovacs, nodding to his early days as a teenager in Stockholm’s drum n’ bass scene.
Traversing electro, disco and synth-pop territories with ease is a testament to his status as one of Ireland’s most exciting producers right now. The EP marks the shape of things to come from Jordan Nocturne – genre-blending sounds informed by his life in music and a refreshed approach to his output; stemming from changes in his life, time spent in the studio with a piano and a range of new synths, and reflections on those magic dance floor moments while the world was on hold.
Speaking on the single he says:
“Gemini Boy was written during the first coronavirus lockdown, my son had been born in May, hence the name. I was having a renewed period of productivity with no events after 15 years of gigging every weekend. I see it as a euphoric club track, positivity amongst the chaos that was going on in my life at that time.”
With his Nocturne Edits releases selling in their thousands, plus a string of EP’s on revered labels including Phantasy and Huntleys & Palmers imprint Belters, the return to his own imprint marks the start of a new chapter for him, and the blossoming platform. He sees the label as a home for rising and established artists, and a force for good. Teaming up with illustrator Andreea Ilisăi, the label has been raising money for Trussell Trust and Disasters Emergency Fund along with two genre-defying From Belfast With Love compilations featuring a wealth of local talent along with producing sell-out lines of gorgeous prints, totes and T-shirts.
