We feature a track from Donabate native Chósta, who returns with his second release of the year, as ‘The Coldest Stare’ single and video drops on YouTube and Bandcamp today.

Following on from his ‘It’s You On My Mind‘ & ‘Rush Hour‘ releases back in January, Chósta kicks off his summer music with a stunning track and video for his latest release. The Coldest Stare which is out today, features a video directed by Rob Maguire, which plays into the artists’ feelings of paranoia and insecurity.

Speaking about the track and video, Chósta went on to explain “I would’ve been quite neurotic when I was younger, so myself and Rob wanted to illustrate that sometimes you can be so wrapped up in your own anxieties that you judge and misread another person’s intentions”.

Largely inspired by 90s horror films, the video is set in a forest while the artist’s anxiety and paranoia heightens as he realises that he’s being followed by a masked man along his journey.

The track boast that signature sounds that we’ve become accustom to with the artists, featuring shuffly beats, moody piano progressions, wistful vocal samples, and a slightly haunting air brought to life by the main synth-line and eerie video, culminating into an ear-catching beat.

As well as being busy making music, Chósta is a regular on Dublin Digital Radio, hosting a monthly radio show titled ‘Midnight Tapes’, which he co-runs with Ciaran Mulryan. The show is fairly broad, bringing together the pairs eclectic tastes, combining everything from Brazilian disco to ethereal ambient tunes.
