Yant makes his return to Setaoc Mass’s SK_eleven imprint as teasers for his forthcoming ‘Contravention EP’ surface. Hailing from Manchester, with arguably one of the most impressive back catalogues techno has to offer in modern times, Yant’s powerful sound is a breath of fresh air everyone needs to experience.
Since his ‘Night Shift’ EP kick started the SK_X series we all know and love in late 2019, I have patiently awaited his return to the label, the time is now. I was lucky enough to listen to the EP in its entirety earlier this week and undoubtedly it didn’t fall short. The record leads with the title track ‘Contravention’, a hypnotic synth driven journey packed with interesting percussion and propelling bass, before ‘Electronic Space Storm’ does exactly what it says on the tin and takes the listener on a dark pounding odyssey, complete with intricate hypnotic sounds throughout.
The flip side takes a similar approach with ‘Kaleidoscopic Vison’ and ‘Solidarity Is On The Line’, both leading this record to a close on a high.
