Every Friday night and Saturday morning from 2am throughout March, Junction 2 will be shining a spotlight on established and emerging talent at the core of the festival success.
In a nod to International Woman’s Day on March 8th, the residency will feature a female-led programme as effervescent host, Alex Beattie, Junction 2’s very own Head of Ops, presents an exclusive, special guest mix each week.
Kicking off the series on Friday 5th March, is DJ, producer and Ruta5 label boss, Sonja Moonear. As a Junction 2 regular, Sonja has gone back-to-back with Nicolas Lutz at The Woods stage in both 2018 and 2019, immediately cementing herself as a firm festival favourite. From a foundation of classical training, Sonja has steadily risen through the ranks over the past ten years. A mainstay on the international DJ circuit, Sonja also performs under live project alias Junction SM, making this truly the meeting of two junctions.
VTSS aka Martyna Maja, part of the Discwoman collective, steps up on Friday 12th March. Emerging from the gritty underground club scene in Poland, VTSS has gained international acclaim for her distinctive style of high-speed techno and boundless energy. Now located in Berlin, she is a regular feature in the city’s usually vibrant club scene, and rumoured to be making her Junction 2 debut very soon.
Friday 19th March sees DJ and Rinse FM selector Jossy Mitsu take to the airways. Part of the 6 Figure Gang alongside the likes of SHARELLE, Jossy is a regular on the UK circuit, playing some of the county’s most infamous clubs like fabric London, Motion Bristol, Depot Mayfield Manchester, Patterns Brighton and Corsica Studios. With a standout previous appearance for J2 organisers at FOLD and festival debut due to take place this year, her set for J2’s R1 residency is a party-drenched taste of things to come.
For Junction 2’s residency finale on Friday 23rd March, Brazilian born procedure and DJ ANNA will join the ranks. With over 20 years of industry experience, ANNA has dropped releases on leading techno labels like Afterlife, Drumcode and Hotflush as well as a celebrated Essential Mix for Radio 1. Booked to perform on J2’s legendary Bridge stage alongside Richie Hawtin and Amelie Lens for last year’s postponed show, ANNA took part in the award-winning Junction 2 Virtual debut.
